Did the plot pull you in or did you feel you had to force yourself to read the book? Honestly, there were some parts that I had to force myself. At the book club, we were all excited about this book because it was something different. But some parts (to me) seemed somewhat redundant and I felt like I was in a loop.
How realistic was the characterization? I felt that these were not real 'characters' but tools the author was using to describe her own personal situation. In this context, the characters are very real. But just by themselves, they do seem a little far-fetched.
How does the setting figure into the book? Past and present. Time and space. Then there's hope, bikini girl. I don't think the settings were as important as the characters and the settings were used to further explain the behaviour of the characters.
Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book from the author.
